Our new in-office open extremity MRI allows us to provide quality imaging services to our patients in an easy and expedient fashion without the hassles of scheduling and traveling to outside facilities or hospitals. It allows us to quickly and accurately evaluate injuries and diseases of the upper and lower extremities including the knee, calf, ankle, foot, hip, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder. The MRI images allow us to help diagnose a wide variety of extremity traumas, including torn knee ligaments and cartilage, and torn rotator cuffs.
Our open MRI provides comfort to our patients while combining timesaving efficiencies with high quality imaging. Immediate appointments are available for patients who need urgent evaluation.

Common Questions about our In-Office MRI
- What is an MRI?
Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a diagnostic technology that uses a strong magnet and radiofrequency waves to produce "images" of your internal organs and structures. Because MRI allows your doctor to see inside your body from any angle with great clarity, it is giving doctors a wealth of information more quickly and in many cases, more economically than past tests and exploratory surgeries. - What MRIs Can I Have Scanned at Advanced Orthopedics?
Our MRI is optimized to image the extremities. The system can scan the knee, calf, ankle, foot, hand, wrist, forearm, elbow, and shoulder and even hips. The system is not capable of doing back or spine MRIs. - How does the Advanced Orthopedic's Extremity MRI System Compare to Whole-Body MRI?
The extremity MRI is designed and optimized for imaging extremities. Image quality and imaging times compare favorably with the same studies performed on whole-body imagers. Furthermore, patients are not subject to the claustrophobic reactions common to whole body imagers, since they remain outside the magnet at all times. - Who Will Interpret My MRI?
Both your orthopedic surgeon and a musculoskeletal radiologist will review your MRI. We have retained an outstanding board-certified radiologist with advanced subspecialty training in musculoskeletal imaging to provide expert interpretations in a timely manner. - How do I schedule my MRI?
We will schedule your MRI at a time convenient for you. We will also obtain any necessary precertification that your insurance carrier may require. - What if I Have More Questions?
Your physician or the MRI technologist will answer any additional questions you may have.
